On the eastern edge of St. Tammany Parish, Slidell boasts a vibrant arts scene, family-friendly festivals, proximity to Honey Island Swamp tours and is less than 40 minutes north of New Orleans' French Quarter. Olde Towne Slidell is a 10-square-block downtown district of historic buildings, antiques and specialty shops, restaurants and museums. Antiques-lovers, take note: Olde Towne hosts Slidell's Antique District Street Fair each fall and spring. Indulge in a nectar soda or old-timey banana split at the delightful Old Town Slidell Soda Shop after exploring the historic district or shopping at Fremaux Town Center, the area's newest mall.
Attend free concerts in Heritage Park including the Bayou Jam Concert Series, which is typically held in spring and fall, and usually with a Halloween week finale of costumes and trunk-or-treating. Two annual events not to miss are the All You Can Eat Crawfish Cook-off in Fritchie Park, usually held in April, and the Slidell Heritage Festival on or near Independence Day. See more events in Slidell on our Event Calendar.
