Film Productions in St. Tammany Parish

  • All productions, general B-roll and student films shooting in St. Tammany Parish are required to complete a film permit application no later than 5 days before the first day of filming. Scroll down to access the online submission portal.
  • A permit from St. Tammany Parish Government is required for productions operating in unincorporated St. Tammany Parish. A permit from the city or town is required for productions operating entirely within the city limits of Covington, Mandeville and Slidell, or in the towns of Madisonville and/or Abita Springs.

Steps to Obtain a Film Permit

  1. Submit Film Permit Application; prior to any prep activities on properties in St. Tammany Parish
  2. Receive confirmation and further communications from the St. Tammany Parish Tourist Commission Multimedia Content Manager
  3. Submit Certificate of Insurance (see below)
  4. Submit Location Permit Request if needed
  5. Submit all required supporting documents as listed and confirmed by the Manager.

Film Permit Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a Film Permit Application no later than 5 days prior to the commencement of filming. Film Permits are issued at varying costs.

Below are the documents which must be submitted:

  1. Film Permit Application (click to access form)
  2. Certificate of Insurance
  3. Permit Payment, as applicable and confirmed by the Manager
  4. Location Permit Request; must be completed for each filming location and submitted no later than 2 business days prior to filming
  5. Signed Location Agreement between the production and filming location property owner
  6. Detailed schematic of each production location
  7. Copy of Neighborhood Notice
  8. Copy of Drone Operator's License, as applicable
    • Productions are required to use only FAA-certified drone operators and to ensure that the drone operators comply with FAA regulations
  9. Additional permit application requirements may be requested depending on the filming location and scope of production
    • Including but not limited to St. Tammany Parish facilities, DOTD road closures, State Parks, and National Wildlife Refuges within St. Tammany Parish

Filming on St. Tammany Parish Government Property

At this time, filming in areas owned and operated by St. Tammany Parish Government is not permitted, including the grounds and parking areas of Camp Salmen Nature Park, Kids Konnection Playground at Koop Drive, Mandeville, St. Tammany Parish Fishing Pier in Slidell, and the Tammany Trace hike/bike path, which does not include trailhead facilities, which are city properties and require permits from the governing authority listed above.

Filming in Louisiana State Parks

Filming in Fontainebleau State Park and Fairview-Riverside State Park require a permit from the State of Louisiana. Click here for more information: Louisiana State Park Film & Photo PolicySt. Tammany Parish Government does not require a permit for productions operating solely within the parks; however, please complete our online application so we can provide support for your production and track economic activity.

Permit Payment Fees Associated 
  • Unincorporated St. Tammany Locations: payment made to St. Tammany Parish Government; $100.00 per application. Deliver payment to 21454 Koop Drive, Building B, Suite 1B, Mandeville, LA 70471, attention to Dept. of Planning and Development. The office is open for walk-in service 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
     
  • City of Covington; $25.00 per application; other fees may be assessed as determined by the Office of Cultural Arts and Events.
     
  • Additional fees may vary depending on location and scope of production.
