From bayou paddles to brunch plates, plan a long weekend close to home with food, fun, and plenty of ways to unwind.

Labor Day weekend is the perfect excuse to slow down and explore what’s close to home. This four-day itinerary is designed as a choose-your-own-adventure: pick your “home base” in Covington, Mandeville, Slidell or Abita Springs, then mix and match activities and meals to suit your style. The dining spots featured here are open Friday through Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Most close on Monday, so we’ve included a shorter list of Monday-friendly options to help you wrap up the weekend. This itinerary highlights a variety of combinations, but it only scratches the surface—each town in St. Tammany has even more to discover when it comes to where to eat, stay or play.

Ornately decorated plates and teacups arranged on a table with selections for brunch at The English Tea Room, including soup, salad, sweet and savory scones and creamy spreads and sauces.

August is also Tammany Taste of Summer, the Northshore's own culinary month! Fifty restaurants across St. Tammany are offering great dining deals so you can discover new places to enjoy and different dishes at your favorite places.

Pro tip: Call ahead or check social media for hours, as holiday schedules may vary.
