Legends lurk in the dark corners of the Northshore, and this episode goes looking for them.
This Halloween, All The Waves gets tangled in the shadows between fact and folklore. First, Dana Holyfield, granddaughter of Harlan Ford, takes us deep into the Honey Island Swamp, where her family’s eerie encounters—amber eyes glowing in the dark, footprints sent to the Smithsonian—sparked Louisiana’s most enduring monster legend.

Then, author and storyteller John Case invites us into the cemeteries and courtrooms of St. Tammany’s past, where truth hides behind tombstones and every tale begins with a maybe. Blurring the line between history and imagination, he weaves stories that left us asking more than once—wait, did that really happen? From mysterious creatures to restless spirits, we’re exploring the strange side of the Northshore.

Fall on the Northshore means streets and parks alive with music, from homegrown songs to zydeco beats that keep dancers moving.
In this episode of All The Waves, Katie and Zondra sit down with the folks behind two can’t-miss festivals: one filling downtown Covington with songwriters, the other bringing zydeco fire to Slidell’s Heritage Park.
First up is Gabrielle Deculus
of the NOLA Zydeco Festival, who shares how family roots and Cajun heritage fuel the party—and what it means to bring zydeco across the lake for the festival’s fifth year.
Then it’s Meagan Ginter of the Ozone Songwriter Festival and singer-songwriter Laine Bleu talking about celebrating original music, teaming up with local venues and creating a festival where community and creativity take center stage.
Tune in and get a taste of the music, heritage and community spirit that make fall festivals on The Northshore unforgettable.
Join Katie and Zondra as they dive into refreshing ways to stay cool indoors on a steamy summer day!
First up, meet Andrea Magrath, the owner and head of pickleball at Category 5 Pickleball — the only indoor, climate-controlled pickleball facility on the Northshore — where she also leads coaching, clinics, and wellness-centered play.
Then, hear from Patrick Heim, a multi-business entrepreneur who has helped revitalize Olde Towne Slidell through popular spots like The Brass Monkey, Olde Towne Pizza Co., Whiskey and Ashe, Arcade on Carey and Luna Tequila.
This month’s Wave Review is all about ice cream shops — the perfect summertime treat!
Featured favorites include:
The Candy Bank
Nostalgia Mexican Ice Cream
Old Town Slidell Soda Shop
Hoodoo Ice Cream
Benny's Creamery
Cool off, tune in, and get the scoop on summer fun indoors — plus the sweetest ice cream stops on The Northshore.
In celebration of Tammany Taste of Summer—The Northshore's month-long culinary showcase—Katie and Zondra sit down with three legendary figures in Covington’s restaurant scene to talk about how they got started, the challenges they’ve overcome, and how they’ve continued to thrive in an ever-changing industry.
First, they’re joined by celebrated chef and restaurateur Pat Gallagher, whose career began at a rural steakhouse and grew into a parish-wide collection of four popular restaurants, each with its own distinct atmosphere—-from white table cloth date-night spots to historic waterfront dining that's great for families. Chef Pat reflects on the experiences, values and vision that shaped a legacy of hospitality, consistency, and local flavor in Louisiana’s culinary scene.

Then, our hosts chat with Tim and Jan Lantrip from The English Tea Room & Eatery, where a vast selection of teas pairs with a cozy menu of British favorites, all served in their charming cottage on the corner of North Florida and Rutland Streets. The Lantrips open up about a deeply personal chapter that brought the community together, and how their hospitality has attracted fans from across the country—and even around the world.
Be sure to check out the restaurants offering prix fixe menus all August long at TammanyTaste.com and show your support for this important time of year for our local dining community.
This episode is your insider’s guide to exploring St. Tammany Parish like a pro--whether on a whim or on a plan, solo or with a group.
First, we chat with Tanya Leader, Visit The Northshore’s Vice President of Sales and Services (and Zondra’s boss!). Tanya’s the go-to person for planning unforgettable group getaways to the Northshore, whether it’s a family reunion, a team retreat, or any excuse to escape. She’s got the inside scoop on hidden gems, can’t-miss events, and all the delicious food you’ll want to try.

Next up, we chat with Tico Soto of Tourism Tactics by Tico—the guy helping us spread the word about the Northshore all around the globe. As a consultant for Visit The Northshore, Tico shows international visitors why this place is so special, and how tourism brings big benefits to our local businesses without losing that small-town charm. He’ll also tell us why selling the Northshore is one of his favorite gigs.
Together, they give us a peek at how the Northshore welcomes the world—and why there’s no better place to gather, explore, and enjoy. Listen in!
From handmade soaps to small-batch wines, this episode celebrates creativity, intention, and local flavor on the Northshore.
At just 16, Carmen Norman set out to create a simple soap—and sparked something much bigger. Together with her mom, Alicia, this mother-daughter dream team turned a DIY remedy into a thriving business, growing from a farmers market table to a full-blown wellness brand in Purple Elephant Bath & Body. Now, with a second venture in the mix and a shared mission to keep things clean, plant-based, and from the heart, they’re making waves—and not just in skincare.
Once known as Pontchartrain Vineyards, this laid-back Bush locale is now Wild Bush Farm & Vineyard, where owners Neil Gernon and wife Monica Bourgeois are shaking up the Louisiana wine scene with their natural, Napa-honed approach. They’re growing native grapes, ditching the additives, and pouring plenty of personality into every bottle—Neil even draws the labels himself. Add in serene gardens, tasting tours and the beloved Jazz’n the Vines concert series, and you’ve got a perfect Northshore escape. In this episode, Neil joins Katie and Zondra for a tasting of three of his wines (including one named for his mom) and keeps the conversation as lively as the blends.
Get ready to crank up the good vibes on All The Waves!
This month, we’re talking to two local legends who know how to get a crowd moving.
First up: Ricky Windhorst, aka “Big Easy Rick.” A Louisiana Music Hall of Famer (thanks to his days with the J.J. Muggler Band) and the frontman of festival favorite Four Unplugged, Ricky’s been rocking the Northshore with high-energy classic rock and funk for years. He recently dropped his first solo album, Lucky Dog — seven original songs packed with that unmistakable New Orleans flavor. Ricky shares why the St. Tammany music scene hits different and his favorite spots to catch a live show.

Then, meet Fadra White, one half of the powerhouse sister duo leading Soul Revival. With 20+ years of high-energy performances across Southeast Louisiana, Soul Revival’s fanbase — their loyal "Soulmates" — and a 2024 Musical Artist of the Year award prove they know how to throw a serious party. Fadra (yes, sister to co-host Zondra!) talks about their musical roots, a career that once took them to Carnegie Hall, and the real story behind their most unforgettable moment onstage. Their motto? “We turn their party into our party."
