A mind-boggling assortment of fresh seafood served buffet-style in a casual, family atmosphere. There's shrimp, crawfish, oysters on the half shell, soft-shell blue crab, scallops and fresh fish, of course. There's also lobster tails, snow crab, frog legs, clams, mussels and squid. If it's in season, boiled, broiled, fried or grilled, they have it. Certainly you'll find seafood by the pound, but that's just a start. Then there's the dishes, like Shrimp Fettuccine, Crab meat Au gratin or Lobster Casserole; the "uniquely Louisiana" specialties, like po-boys, gumbo, boudin, jambalaya, alligator sausage patties with pancake syrup. If you like combinations, you'll want to go for the stuffed options--shrimp, crab, oysters, filet fish, mushrooms and more, or take home a 20-piece family fish box, which includes fries, hush puppies and slaw. Fresh fish options are the in-season, catch of the day, whole or filet: Tilapia, Catfish, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Grouper, Flounder and more. Or, if you'd like something lighter, go for the Crab meat salad or Shrimp Salad (or the full salad and fruit bars). And, if someone in your crew doesn't do seafood, there's always the ribeye steak. If you still have room, you can top off your delectable dinner at the dessert bar. The House of Seafood is open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only for dine-in or carry-out. Before you go: this family-run, family-friendly place takes breaks for the holidays, and may be closed at any time from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day. Be sure to check their Facebook page for current info, as well as the daily menu or drinks/food specials on LSU and Saints game days. Progressive charges for children 3 to 15 years old.
