The Northshore Traditional Music Society and St. John's Coffeehouse present Slow/Fast Fiddle Session, held every final Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Northshore Strings’ Slow/Fast Session provides an excellent educational opportunity for those who are interested in playing fiddle tunes, especially Celtic fiddle tunes. In the first half of the session, tunes are played at slower tempos and veteran string educators are on hand to offer insight and encouragement to student musicians. In the second half of the session, tempos increase to their normal performance speed. For more information, visit https://www.nstms.org/celtic.html.

St. John's Coffeehouse is located at 535 E. Boston St., the corner of Boston and Columbia Streets in Historic Downtown Covington. In addition to delicious, fresh-roasted coffees, teas, matcha, lemonades, sodas and other drinks, St. John's kitchen serves healthful sandwiches, salads, dressed bagels and soups. Vegan and vegetarian options. St. John's is a hub of activity on any given day, year-round. Regular hours are 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

The Northshore Traditional Music Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that promotes traditional music through education, inspiring performances, and opportunities for professional and amateur musicians to make music together in non-commercial settings. Our hope is that through these efforts, music-making will be more broadly accessible and the social fabric of our community will be strengthened. Learn more at https://www.nstms.org.
