Chefs to Watch 2024
Louisiana Cookin’ launched its Chefs to Watch program in 2002 to spotlight talented, rising chefs across the state who honor Louisiana’s culinary traditions while bringing fresh, innovative ideas to the table. This year’s 2024 Chefs to Watch includes both Louisiana natives and chefs from other regions who are inspired by the state's wealth of fresh, local ingredients and their unique personal experiences.
One standout among this year’s honorees is Trey Herty, whose culinary journey spans from St. Bernard Parish to the heart of New Orleans. Trey’s passion for cooking began early, choosing to watch Julia Child over cartoons as a child. His career took him from flipping burgers to working at Arnaud's Restaurant and attending culinary school, all of which shaped his skills and love for food. Now, as the chef behind T-Rey’s Boudin & Specialty Foods, Trey celebrates his Cajun heritage with mouthwatering creations like his Chorizo Spiced Pork Shoulder with Green Chili Cheddar Hominy Spoonbread. Guests can look forward to tasting this family-inspired dish at the 2024 Chefs to Watch Dinner.
Join Trey and the other 2024 Chefs to Watch for a special dinner event on Thursday, October 10, at The Greenwood in Covington, Louisiana. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the Northshore Food Bank, making it a delicious way to support both local cuisine and the community.
