"Growing up in St. Tammany Parish, Jeremy Torres was never more than 15 minutes away from the water. Friends had kayaks and fishing boats. Secluded shorelines, speckled trout and, when the water was calm, Lake Pontchartrain occupied their days
Today, whether the 35-year-old is exploring the northshore's oft-overlooked sandy-bottomed rivers or its all-but-untouched bayous, he runs into the same question from friends about his hometown’s picturesque diversity.
“I’ll post a photo and get, ‘Man, where are you at?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m in Covington,’” said Torres, who last year launched mobile delivery service Kayaks to Geaux throughout the parish. “Sometimes you don’t know what’s right next door to you.”
