Ally Venable Band to headline this year’s festival
Covington, LA (August 6, 2024) – The fifth annual Bluesberry Music + Art Festival will take place in Covington, Louisiana on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 11:30AM to 9PM with a stellar lineup of regional and national talent on the Northshore Media Group Stage! Headlining this full-day celebration of blues music and the arts is Texas blues-rock singer/songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Ally Venable. Other featured performances include Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee and Guitar Center’s 2011 “King of the Blues” winner Jonathon "Boogie" Long, a crowd favorite from Bluesberry’s 2022 festival; Blues Foundation Award winner and guitarist Laurie Morvan; Austin-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter Gary Cain; and South Louisiana roots/blues musician Josh Garrett. New Orleans music icon Charmaine Neville will emcee this year’s festival.
Bluesberry Festival will also feature a number of local and regional musicians on its Pavilion Stage, including Jourdan Blue, Christian Butler, Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee Julian Primeaux, Molly Taylor and the Gospel Hour.
Set in Downtown Covington’s riverside Bogue Falaya Park, Bluesberry Festival is a perfect place for music and art aficionados who want to “experience” the arts amidst Southeast Louisiana’s natural landscape. In addition to a diverse music lineup, the festival features live art demonstrations; 20+ talented artists from across the region who will be selling their original work; a free Interactive Painting Experience, where patrons can create their own original work of art to take home with them; the Children’s Village, sponsored by Louisiana State Senator Patrick McMath, where kids can exercise their own creative talent.
As for food and drink options, the festival will feature the KYSEK Food Truck Roundup with local cuisine from mobile eateries like Geaux Creole, Rustic Press, Rue Chow, Creole Tomateaux, Hocus Smokus, Taco Y Birria, and more. Each will serve up their signature dishes, but also put a blueberry spin on some old favorites. Also returning to the festival this year is the McGinity Law Firm Rejuvenation Station, where patrons can cool down and grab a cold drink with a great view of the stage; and the Gallardo Signs / Abita Beer Garden, where festival goers can sip on a variety of locally crafted brews from Abita Brewery, including Abita Blueberry Beer. A variety of wines and cocktails will be available at the festival Spirits Tent.
“At its core, Bluesberry is truly a celebration of all the arts – music, visual art, culinary art and more. One thing we’re particularly excited about as we enter into the festival’s fifth year, is the revival of one of the most beloved elements from our inaugural festival in 2019, the Interactive Painting Experience. Back by popular demand, it gives our patrons the ability to flex their own artistic muscles and create a memory that they can take home with them,” says Festival Co-Founder Sarada Bonnett.
General admission to the festival is $25 online, $30 at the gate, and free for children ages 10 and under. Festival parking will be available at the St. Tammany Justice Center, and the Gulf Coast Bank Trolley and Royal Coach Trolley will be running throughout the day, transporting festival patrons to and from Bogue Falaya Park.
