Larry Beer Fest & Homebrew Competition is an annual homemade beer competition and festival brought to you by the Mystic Krewe of Brew homebrew club. Started in 1995 by craft beer lovers, the krewe's mission is to promote the hobby and enjoyment of home-brewing beer. The event is named for club member Larry Hartzog, who was known for his love of jazz music, animals and the wild, twisted and weird beers he would brew, using ingredients like peppers, mincemeat, coconut and a host of other unconventional ingredients. In his honor, each year's festival is based on a theme to incorporate beer of the weird and the wild.

The festival features the Homebrew Competition, a BJCP sanctioned competition judged by BJCP certified judges, and a beer festival with both commercial and home-brewed beers. Attendees can vote in a People's Choice competition.

The Northshore Humane Society is the largest not-for-profit, no-kill animal shelter founded in 1953. It is an independent, non-governmental rescue organization offering veterinary care, fostering, adoption and more to serve the homeless, neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore.
